What To Wear To A Music Festival: For Guys
Festival season is upon us and for many of you it might be your first festival and you’re wondering on what you should wear.
When it comes to festivals, always follow the 2 golden rules:
1. Don’t wear anything you care about
That means don’t wear your best or most expensive clothing. You’re going to sweat, you’re going to get dirty, drinks will be spilled and stuff is going to go missing – such is the reality of music festivals. You’re there to have fun, not flex!
2. Always go with comfort first.
You’re going to presumably be out in the scorching sun for hours, you WANT TO BE COMFORTABLE. You don’t want to be miserable wearing something that looks good but restricts your movement or is uncomfortable.
Now when it comes to festivals, this is your time to stand out with crazy bold clothing you normally wouldn’t wear in your day-to-day.
We’re talking crazy accessories, colorful pants, flower printed tees – anything goes at festivals!
#1 – A Flowy Top or Tank Top
Our picks:
- Men’s Retro Short Sleeve
- Striped Casual Button Down
- Men’s Corduroy Shirt Jacket
- Mens Floral Hawaiian Shirt
When you’re at a festival you want to keep cool but look good, flowy tops are perfect for the occasion. They look great on their own but especially when accessorized with crazy necklaces, bracelets and rings.
Tank tops are the king when you want to be comfortable and have complete freedom in terms of movement.
#2 – Bottoms
When it comes to the lower portion of your body, both shorts and pants work completely fine but I highly recommend opting for a looser more flowy pair of pants that won’t be too restrictive.
As for shorts, you can go a little crazy here. Jean shorts, or flower printed shirts, any kind of shorts really work well. Our summer shorts article can help you out.
#3 – Shoes
You don’t want to be wearing your best shoes. Your shoes will get muddy, stepped on and scuffed, so opt for a pair of beater shoes.
Really all you need for shoes are a pair of beaters that you’re comfortable walking around on ALL DAY.
Any pair of Vans or Chuck Taylors works, but for some people their feet would get killed walking around all day in a pair of Vans, so slip on shoes work great if that’s you.
Really, it comes down to your personal needs here. Check out our men’s summer shoes article for some ideas.
#4 – Accessories
This is where you can have the most fun when it comes to your festival outfit.
Go crazy with accessories! Add as much flare as you can to your outfit with some cheap accessories (not your mothers jewelry collection).
I like to think of what Johnny Depp would wear in this situation and go from there.
Some accessory suggestions:
- Bandanas
- Sunglasses
- Watches
- Bracelets
- Sun hats
- Necklaces
- Rings
Have some fun with it and you can’t go wrong!
